Song Of The Mallard And The Peacock

In this big deep blue sky
A mallard was gathering
Rye and sage
To weave dreams
To console his rage.

The rye was sweet
And the sage was wild
And his feathers grew stronger
His colors began to shine.

A peacock flew by
So shimmering and nice
The mallard gazed in awe
Do peacocks even fly?

Yes, was her answer
With me you should fly
I like what you have done
I can show you even bigger harvests
And more colorful skies.

I can show you words and ways
I can make you rest and sway
I can help you weave your dreams
I have knowledge, I have means.

So in this big deep blue brand new sky
The mallard and the peacock flew away
And for a little, little, little while
Rye tasted better
The sage, ecstatic.

Books were read
Sublime notes were heeded
Profound words were uttered.

But the mallard forgot
Or perhaps he decided to forget
Or perhaps he decided to lose himself in her beautiful, beautiful iridescent plumage.

Peacocks are not meant for long or high flights
They are so scared of distances and heights.

“Come on! Wind’s on our back!
The light is pure gold!
Now! With all our might!
Now! Let’s take flight!”

So said the mallard but the peacock stood still
Her wings retracted
A furious stare in her oh so deep sky blue eyes
The mallard began to worry, he lend her his wing.

But a knife dropped on his wrist.

No more profound words.
Just a poisonous hiss.

No more sublime notes.
Just confused, meaningless cacophonies.

No more books to share.
Just cocky grins of despair.

Burnt and crashed.

Burnt and crashed.

Burnt and crashed.

All the shimmers.

Burnt and crashed.

All the nice.

Burnt and crashed.

Burnt and crashed.

But the sky is still big, deep blue.
And the rye, it continues to grow lushly.
And the sage, it keeps being wild and wondrous.

The mallard grew wiser.
Just a little bit sadder.

He looked at her, that ill tempered peacock who had taught him words and ways
Rest and sway.
Books and notes.
Words and skies.

But was unable to really fly.

I kiss thy goodbye, my sorrowful peacock.
I kiss thy goodbye
For I don’t want to
Crash and burn with you.

In this big deep blue sky
A mallard is still gathering
Rye and Sage.
To weave dreams.
To console his rage.

He just shed a little, tiny tear
That now hang suspended
In this big deep blue sky
Like a star for sorrow.

Crash and burn
Crash and burn
For I don’t want to
Crash and burn
Because of you.

In questo grande cielo blu intenso
Un germano reale raccoglieva
Segale e salvia

Posso mostrarti parole e vie,
posso farti riposare e ondeggiare,
posso aiutarti a tessere i tuoi sogni,

Bruciati e distrutti.
Bruciati e distrutti.
Bruciati e distrutti.

Tutta i luccichii.
Bruciati e distrutti.

Tutta la bellezza.
Bruciata e distrutta.
Bruciata e distrutta.

Ti do un bacio d’addio, mia pavona afflitta.
Ti do un bacio d’addio
Perché non voglio
Schiantarmi e bruciare con te.

In questo grande cielo blu intenso
Un germano reale sta ancora raccogliendo
Segale e salvia.
Per tessere sogni.
Per placare la sua rabbia.

Ha appena versato una piccola, minuscola lacrima
Che ora rimane sospesa
In questo grande cielo blu intenso
Come una stella del dolore.

Schiantarmi e bruciare
Schiantarmi e bruciare

Perché non voglio
Schiantarmi e bruciare

A causa tua.
